How to Increase Your Knowledge

Many individuals are without work and are already applying for jobs regularly. However, in the meantime people should consider increasing their education while they continue their job search to sharpen their basic and advanced skills.  The longer workers remain out of work, the higher the decline of their skills.  

 

Read books such as classic novels and books that will challenge your overall view of the world.  Books that is mentally stimulating with help to waken your brain and make it work harder.  Use the dictionary to look up words you’re unfamiliar with and look into using those words in your daily vocabulary. 

Stay motivated through this time in your life.  It’s easy to lose your confidence and overall motivation through this difficult time.  While the job market is very competitive and you haven’t found any work it’s important to stay positive and keep a good outlook.  It’s important to go out, remain focused on networking with others and keep up with your people skills.

 

·         Keep connections with the industry and maintain personal contacts.

·         Join local organizations and interest groups as many meet with industry professionals, provide training programs and ways to increase skills

·         Take classes primarily in-person courses as it is a great way for networking face-to-face interaction and could possibly open the doors to job opportunities for you.

·         Gain advanced skills through looking at attending college and obtaining an additional certificate or coursework from local colleges which can help boost your cover letter and resume.  It will also increase the marketability to managers and HR representatives.
